Purpose of a district convention

The annual district conventions, as a form of Annual General Meeting, have three key purposes.

Formal business

As specified within the Lions Clubs International district constitution, the nature of the formal business required at the  convention will include:

  • Election of the new District Governor and Vice District Governors;
  • Approval of the annual accounts for the district and agreement on membership dues;
  • Reports on the work of district Cabinet Officers for the year;
  • Discussion and agreement of proposals for changes in the way that districts are run. Such topics have been raised by clubs, and can potentially have a global influence across the Lions Club International organisation.
