Purpose of a district convention
The annual district conventions, as a form of Annual General Meeting, have three key purposes.
As specified within the Lions Clubs International district constitution, the nature of the formal business required at the convention will include:
- Election of the new District Governor and Vice District Governors;
- Approval of the annual accounts for the district and agreement on membership dues;
- Reports on the work of district Cabinet Officers for the year;
- Discussion and agreement of proposals for changes in the way that districts are run. Such topics have been raised by clubs, and can potentially have a global influence across the Lions Club International organisation.
