Recycling of Spectacles – Chichester Lions Club
UPDATE FROM CHICHESTER LIONS CLUB RE: SPECTACLE RECYCLING as at 5 January 2021
Due to the latest national lockdown imposed by the government this week, please do not send or deliver any spectacles or hearing aids to our centre for the foreseeable future, and until we have released a statement that we are fully operational again. We will keep this website updated https://www.chilions.org.uk/
Once we are in a position to reopen, clubs that are able to deliver directly to us can continue to do this, or can make arrangements to have them delivered.
Normally, we do not receive individual donations, these are usually handed into opticians or other public places where our Lions clubs then collect from, to send them in bulk to us for sorting.
Once the lockdown is over then, if you cannot find anyone locally that is collecting on our behalf, by checking for your local Lions club, then you are welcome to send your spectacles here, but, as this would be at your own cost, please use the cheapest mail service.
The minimum price to send 2nd class by Royal Mail is £3.20 (£3.00 if you buy online) and for this, you can send a packet the size of a shoebox, up to 2kg in weight so you may know someone else that has some.
Please do not send spectacle cases or cleaning cloths, or use packing materials that cannot be recycled, as we then have to pay to dispose as its trade waste.
We will not be able to acknowledge receipt for small packets due to the high volumes.
Please send to:

c/o The Apuldram Centre
Common Farm
Appledram Lane South

Once again, Chichester Lions Club thanks everyone for their continued support and hopes to be up and running continuing our work as soon as we are able.
